After having worked on repairing the forum for a few days, I’ve determined that the amount of effort that I would have to put into it probably isn’t worth it for the amount of time that I even planned to keep it around. As such I’m going to go ahead and shut the forum down now.

This, of course, will make some people wonder what’s going to become of Isle of Starlight. The game was just about to hit turn 100, a turning point where hordes of monsters would start to arrive on a regular basis. At the same time, the players had just activated the most powerful boss in the game, and were nearing completion of the ship that would allow them to escape the island. Although I’m disappointed that my ramshackle website couldn’t hold together for another couple of months so we could resolve all of this by the game’s normal rules, this actually strikes me as perhaps the best point that the game could possibly have collapsed at. Ultimately there are only a small handful of tasks left to complete, and from looking at the player-driven planning threads, it seems that there were solid plans in place for each of these. The final outcome of the game is virtually certain at this point; all that remained was to watch it all play out.

Therefore, here’s what I’m planning to do. It’s still possible for me to view the existing posts on the forum, so I can clearly see both the immediate actions that the players wanted to take and their plans for the next couple of turns. I’m going to draw up a final few updates, taking into account the plans that the players have formulated, and provide the game with a narrative conclusion. I’ll post these updates somewhere, most likely on Patreon where the first images from the game were revealed. And then, finally, I’ll release the complete compilation of all 100 turns of the game as a free PDF.

I’m sorry to have a second forum game end prematurely like this. Rest assured that Dwarf Dungeon will also be compiled and published before the forum is completely reduced to ash. And of course, this won’t be the last public game that I run, not by a long shot. I’ve already been working on plans for the next one over the past couple of months. It’ll be hosted on much more stable platform than the forum ever was. I hope that all of you will check it out once it launches.

Thanks for understanding.
